Colombian Steam Coal Exports Tumble in May

Shipments of Colombian steam coal dropped by 2.3 Mt year-on-year to just over 4.0 Mt in May, the lowest since February 2013, according to data collected by IHS.

Steam coal exports to countries in Europe and the Mediterranean declined by 1.0 Mt on the year to 1.5 Mt last month, of which loadings to Turkey edged down by 0.2 Mt to 0.9 Mt.

Shipments to Asia fell to 0.8 Mt (-0.1 Mt year-on-year), while those to the Americas tumbled to a 16-month low of 1.7 Mt (-1.2 Mt).
