Japanese Steel Trade Declines in May

Overall Japanese iron and steel product exports fell by 0.5 Mt year-on-year to 2.5 Mt in May, according to data gathered by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, the weakest since February 2019. Shipments to China inched up to 0.5 Mt, while those to Asian countries (excluding China) fell to 1.5 Mt (-0.5 Mt).
