Global Crude Steel Production Rises

Global crude steel output gained by 2.8% year-on-year to 143.3 Mt in February, according to data from the World Steel Association.

Chinese output was estimated at 74.8 Mt last month, climbing by 5.0% on the year and posting annual gains for a fourth consecutive month. This implies crude steel output from the rest of the world totalled 68.5 Mt in February (+0.5% year-on-year), ending a trend of annual falls from June 2019-January 2020.
