Coal stocks at Indian power plants climbed to 23 days’ supply for the first time since August 2016 in the seven days ending 16 March as stockpiles rose by 0.9 Mt week-on-week to 40.2 Mt, according to data from 134 power plants surveyed by the Central Electricity Authority. Inventories have been boosted by stronger domestic coal availability and weaker power demand, IHS reports.
