Queensland Coal Exports Increase in February

Combined coal throughput in February at the main Queensland ports of Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Gladstone and Hay Point rose by 1.8 Mt year-on-year to 16.7 Mt last month, port authority data show. However, February 2019 loadings were the lowest since April 2017.

Abbot Point posted the widest on the year gain of 1.4 Mt to 2.9 Mt in February, while Hay Point’s exports rose by 0.4 Mt to 3.4 Mt last month. Dalrymple Bay moved 4.7 Mt, up by 0.3 Mt year-on-year and offsetting a 0.3 Mt decline at Gladstone (5.6 Mt in February).
