China’s Iron Ore, Coal and Soyabean Imports in April

Chinese iron ore, coal and soyabean imports climbed to a combined 133.4 Mt in April, so standing within 5 Mt of the monthly all-time high seen in 2017, preliminary customs data show.

Chinese iron ore receipts gained to 95.7 Mt in April (+14.9 Mt year-on-year). Total imports in January-April climbed to 358.5 Mt (+16.9 Mt on the year), the strongest start to a calendar year on record.

Meanwhile, overall coal receipts rose by 5.6 Mt year-on-year to 30.9 Mt in April.

Soyabean imports fell to 6.7 Mt in April (-0.9 Mt year-on-year).
