South African Iron Ore and Manganese Ore Exports Drop

Amid a coronavirus-related lockdown that started in late March, South African seaborne iron ore exports fell to a seven-month low of 4.2 Mt in April (-1.6 Mt year-on-year), customs data show.

The country’s manganese ore exports plummeted to a nine-year low of less than 0.5 Mt last month from 1.6 Mt in April 2019.

South Africa will ease lockdown measures from 1 June.
