Turkish Coal Imports Climb in March

Turkish steam coal imports (including anthracite) rose by 0.9 Mt year-on-year to 3.1 Mt in March, extending annual gains for a sixth consecutive month, according to data gathered by IHS. Receipts of Colombian steam coal accounted for just over 2.2 Mt in March (+0.9 Mt on the year), the highest since at least January 2007.
Meanwhile, the country’s coking coal arrivals climbed to 0.8 Mt in March (+0.2 Mt year-on-year) to the highest since December 2010, with Australian product making up 0.3 Mt and supplies from the US and Canada accounting for 0.2 Mt apiece.
