Vietnam’s Coal Imports Hit Record High in April

Vietnam’s coal imports climbed to a record 6.2 Mt in April (+2.5 Mt year-on-year) amid stronger power consumption, according to IHS. Receipts of Australian coal gained by 0.6 Mt on the year to 2.1 Mt last month, while those from Indonesia rose to 1.7 Mt (+0.5 Mt). Imports of Russian supplies grew to just over 1.0 Mt in April (+0.3 Mt). 

Total coal receipts in the first four-months of the year gained to 17.4 Mt from 12.9 Mt in January-April 2019.
