World Crude Steel Output Rises in October

Global crude steel production strengthened in October, gaining 7.0% year-on-year to 161.9 Mt, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).

Growth continues to be led by China where output rose 12.7% to 92.2 Mt in October.

Moreover, October marked the first month since February 2020, in which, output in the world excluding China posted an annual rise of 0.3% to 69.7 Mt.

Production from India edged up 0.9% to 9.1 Mt, while Turkish output climbed 19.4% to 3.2 Mt

However, output from Japan dropped 11.7% to 7.2 Mt and that of the EU (including the UK) fell to 12.6 Mt (-5.6%).
