Chinese imports of Australian iron ore gained 2.6 Mt year-on-year to 61.9 Mt in September, customs data show.
Meanwhile, receipts of Brazilian supplies eased 0.7 Mt to just under 23 Mt, although this was still the second-highest level over the first nine months of 2020.
Chinese iron ore imports excluding Australian and Brazil climbed to the highest level since January 2014 with imports from India up 1.9 Mt to 4.5 Mt and those from Canada rising 1.2 Mt to 2.3 Mt. Receipts from the Ukraine were just short of July’s record high of 3.1 Mt. The country imported 1.0 Mt from Sweden last month, while arrivals from Chile gained to a just over four-year high of 1.9 Mt.
