CISA Crude Steel Production Inches Higher

Crude steel output at China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills edged up to 2.16 Mt/day in the final ten days of September from 2.15 Mt/day over 11-20 September, industry group data show. Production has averaged above 2.10 Mt/day since early June, by contrast levels in June-September 2019 averaged around 2.02 Mt/day.

Meanwhile, following a week-long holiday, steel inventories in major Chinese cities rose 0.8 Mt in the seven days to 9 October to 15.5 Mt, ending three consecutive weeks of decline, U-Metal data show.
