Turkish Coal and Steel Scrap Imports in August

Turkish steam coal imports (including anthracite) eased by 0.1 Mt year-on-year to 2.7 Mt in August, provisional customs data show. Receipts from Colombia declined to 1.3 Mt (-0.5 Mt), while those from Russia rose 0.4 Mt to 1.4 Mt. Turkey’s coking coal imports nearly doubled to 0.6 Mt. Year-to-date steam coal receipts increased 2.4 Mt to 21.5 Mt and coking coal arrivals inched down by less than 0.1 Mt to 3.6 Mt.
Meanwhile, the country’s steel scrap imports rose 0.4 Mt year-on-year to 1.9 Mt in August. This marked a third month in a row of annual growth, although receipts eased from a peak of 2.4 Mt in July.
