US Coal Exports Drop in August

US coking coal exports (excluding those to Canada) declined to 2.4 Mt in August, down 1.9 Mt year-on-year, data from the National Mining Association (NMA) show. Meanwhile, steam coal shipments fell 1.0 Mt to 1.4 Mt, the lowest since September 2016. January-August coking and steam coal loadings tumbled by nearly 9.0 Mt apiece to 23.2 Mt and 15.4 Mt, respectively.
