US Steel Imports Drop in September

US steel imports declined 0.6 Mt year-on-year to an 11-year low of 1.1 Mt in September, preliminary US Census Bureau data show. This extended a trend of annual falls in each month since August 2019, with receipts in the 3q20 down 1.5 Mt to 4.8 Mt and those in the first nine months of 2020 tumbling to just shy of 16 Mt (-4.5 Mt).
