Brazilian Iron Ore, Soya and Corn Exports in August

Brazilian iron ore exports fell 2.5 Mt year-on-year to 31.3 Mt in August, although still the second strongest month of the year to date, preliminary government data show. Shipments declined from a year to date high of 34.1 Mt in July, with total loadings in the first eight months of 2020 dropping to 210.8 Mt (-19.8 Mt).

A seasonal upturn in corn shipments propelled Brazilian exports to a year to date high of 6.5 Mt. However, loadings slipped 0.5 Mt year-on-year, weighing on January-August exports (-7.7 Mt to 14.2 Mt).

Meanwhile, the country’s soyabean shipments rose 1.2 Mt on the year to 6.2 Mt last month, while those of soyameal inched up 0.1 Mt to 1.5 Mt. Soyabean and soyameal exports in January-August gained 23.6 Mt and 0.8 Mt to 79.7 Mt and just under 12.0 Mt, respectively.
