Chinese Crude Steel Production Reaches New High

Chinese crude steel output rose by 8.4% year-on-year to a record 94.9 Mt in August, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) show. Production climbed higher from a previous peak of 93.4 Mt in July, boosting year-to-date output to 688.9 Mt (+3.7%).
Meanwhile, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills produced 2.14 Mt/day of crude steel in the first ten days of September, down slightly from 2.16 Mt/day in late August, industry group data show. Nonetheless, output was above the 2.00 Mt/day recorded in early September 2019.
