Queensland Coal Exports Continue Lower in August

Combined coal throughput in August at the main Queensland ports of Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Gladstone and Hay Point fell 1.4 Mt year-on-year to 16.7 Mt, port authority data reveal. This extended a trend of annual falls since March. Shipments from the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal declined by 0.9 Mt to 4.5 Mt last month, while those from Hay Point and Abbot Point were down 0.3 Mt and 0.2 Mt to 3.5 Mt and 2.9 Mt, respectively. Exports from Gladstone slipped by less than 0.1 Mt to 5.7 Mt.
