South Korean Iron Ore and Coal Imports Fall in August

South Korean iron ore imports declined on the year for a fourth consecutive month, down 0.8 Mt to 6.3 Mt in August, according to data from Korea Customs Service. Receipts in the first eight months of 2020 fell 4.4 Mt to 45.1 Mt.

Meanwhile, the country’s total coal imports dropped to just under 10.0 Mt in August from 13.4 Mt in August 2019. Year-to-date imports tumbled to 80.6 Mt from 92.7 Mt in the same period of 2019.
