US and Canadian Coal Exports in July

US coking coal exports (excluding those to Canada) inched up 0.1 Mt year-on-year to a four-month high of just under 3.0 Mt in July, according to data from the National Mining Association. Meanwhile, steam coal shipments dropped 1.0 Mt to 1.4 Mt, the lowest since September 2016.
Nearby, Canadian coking coal exports (without deliveries to the US) declined to the lowest level since February 2017, halving on the year to 1.6 Mt in July, data gathered by IHS show. Steam coal exports rose to 0.5 Mt from none in July 2019.
