Australian exports of steam coal (including anthracite) edged up 0.2 Mt year-on-year to 15.8 Mt in February, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveal. Despite this, shipments in January-February were down 1.3 Mt on the corresponding period in 2020 at 32.5 Mt. By contrast, the country’s coking coal exports fell 1.2 Mt annually to 12.8 Mt, the lowest level in two years. At 27.1 Mt, shipments in the first two months of the year were 1.7 Mt below the year-ago level.
