Profits generated by Chinese industry in March almost doubled year-on-year amid rising demand for raw materials and a prolonged recovery from the sharp fall last year as Covid-19 hit, newswire Reuters reported citing official data.

Profits rose to 711.2 billion yuan ($109.7 billion) in March, up 92.3% from a year ago.
