Guinea remained the largest supplier of bauxite to China in the month of March, with Chinese customs registering 5.7 Mt in imports, the second highest monthly volume on record and up from 4.4 Mt in March 2020. China imported a total of 10.1 Mt of bauxite last month.

China’s Australian bauxite imports climbed above 3 Mt in March for the first time since October last year. The total reached 3.1 Mt, down from 3.3 Mt in the same month in 2020.

Indonesia was the third largest source of bauxite into China in March at 1.2 Mt, down from 1.7 Mt in March last year.
