China imported 61.4 Mt of iron ore from Australia, and 21.0 Mt of iron ore from Brazil in March, official customs data showed. This represents 60.1% and 20.6% respectively of the total monthly figure of 102.1 Mt.

Volumes from both have grown year-on-year, with March 2020 Australian imports totalling 54.4 Mt and Brazilian imports just 14.6 Mt.

In addition, imports of Indian iron ore in March hit 5.1 Mt, the highest level since June 2011 and up 2.6 Mt year-on-year. Meanwhile, imports from Peru rose to a record monthly high of 2.0 Mt.
