Global Steel Output in March

Global crude steel production climbed by 15.2% year-on-year to a new monthly high of 169.2 Mt in March, according to the World Steel Association.

As previously reported, there was a 19.1% jump in China’s March steel output to 94.0 Mt, while production in the rest of the world increased by 10.7% to 75.2 Mt.

Output increased on an annual basis in all major steel producing regions in March, with growth of 23.9% to 10.0 Mt in India a highlight.

World steel production in January-March totalled 486.9 Mt, up by 10.0% on the same period in 2020.
