Australian Coal Exports by Destination in June

Australian coking coal exports to Japan reached 4.0 Mt in June, more than double the 1.5 Mt shipped a year earlier and the highest monthly volume since December 2016, data from IHS showed.
However, India was the largest recipient of Australian coking coal in June, with volumes reaching 4.1 Mt, up from 2.3 Mt a year earlier.
For steam coal, shipments to South Korea reached an eight-month high of 3.9 Mt, up from 1.5 Mt in the same month last year, with volumes to India growing the most year-on-year to reach 1.4 Mt versus 0.2 Mt in June 2020.
Japan remained the largest importer of Australian steam coal in June, with volumes registered at 6.1 Mt, down slightly from 6.2 Mt a year earlier.
No coking or steam coal was exported to China in June.
