Chinese Coal and Iron Ore Imports Climb in November

Chinese coal imports (including lignite) climbed to a year to date high of 35.1 Mt in November, marking a month-on-month gain of over 8 Mt, customs data reveal. At 292.7 Mt, inbound shipments over January-November were 27.7 Mt above the corresponding period last year.

At 105.0 Mt, Chinese iron ore imports also reached a year to date high last month, up 6.8 Mt year-on-year. The rise in November follows five consecutive months of annual decline.

Imports of soyabeans totalled 8.6 Mt in November, down 1.0 Mt year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Chinese steel exports slipped to 4.4 Mt in November, marking a 13-month low.
