Japanese Coal and Iron Ore Imports in January

At 8.9 Mt, Japanese imports of iron ore edged down by 1.2% year-on-year in January, data from the country’s Ministry of Finance reveal. Despite this, imports were still at their second-highest level since April 2020.

Total coal imports also fell slightly on an annual basis, down 2.5% to 16.1 Mt. Inbound shipments still reached an 11-month high, however.
