Australian Iron Ore and Coal Exports Fall in November

Australian iron ore exports declined 1.8 Mt year-on-year to a nine-month low of 73.6 Mt (wet basis) in November, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show. Nevertheless, annual rises in seven out of 11 months supported January-November 2020 loadings, which grew 35.1 Mt to just shy of 832 Mt.
Meanwhile, the country’s coking coal shipments dropped to 13.4 Mt in November (-1.8 Mt on the year), the lowest since February 2019. Steam coal (including anthracite) exports fell 1.3 Mt to a four-month low of 14.4 Mt. January-November coking and steam coal loadings declined to 155.3 Mt (-12.1 Mt) and 181.3 Mt (-9.8 Mt), respectively.
