Brazilian Iron Ore and Grain Exports in December

At 33.2 Mt, Brazilian iron ore exports climbed by 8.2 Mt year-on-year in December to the highest level since September, preliminary government data show. Exports reached 93.5 Mt in the 4q20, up 5.1 Mt on the 4q19, although full year shipments were still down on 2019.
Meanwhile, Brazilian corn exports increased by 0.8 Mt to 5.0 Mt in December. Shipments in 2020 reached 35.8 Mt, down 7.1 Mt on the 2019 total.
Soyabean and soyameal exports dropped by 3.7 Mt year-on-year in December to 1.3 Mt, the lowest level since November 2016. Despite this, combined soya shipments in 2020 increased by 10.1 Mt to 101.1 Mt and a new high.
