Japanese crude steel exports fell by 1.7 Mt year-on-year in 2020 to 32.1 Mt, the lowest annual total since 2001, data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation show. The fall was driven by declines in shipments to South Korea (-0.6 Mt to 4.8 Mt) and North America (-0.5 Mt to 1.0 Mt). Meanwhile, exports to China climbed on an annual basis, up 0.7 Mt to 5.9 Mt, a six-year high.
