US steel imports reached 20.0 Mt in 2020, down 5.4 Mt year-on-year and the lowest year in over a decade, data from the US Census Bureau reveal. The annual fall was primarily driven by declines in shipments from the EU (-1.5 Mt to 2.5 Mt), Russia (-0.6 Mt to 0.4 Mt) and South Korea (-0.5 Mt to 1.8 Mt).

However, imports in December were down less than 0.1 Mt annually at 1.4 Mt.
