China’s Manufacturing Sector Returns to Expansion in November
China’s official manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) returned to growth in November with a reading of 50.1 (a value above 50 indicates expansion), following two successive months of contraction, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
South African Steam Coal Exports
Despite falling by 1.0 Mt year-on-year in September, seaborne South African coal exports of 5.8 Mt reached their second-highest level this year, customs data reveal. At 47.1 Mt, exports over January-September were 7.0 Mt below the corresponding period in 2020.
Chinese Daily Steel Output in Early October
After tumbling to a three and a half year low over 21-30 September, daily crude steel output from China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills edged up 5.9% to a still low 1.87 Mt over 1-10 October, industry data reveal.
Australian August Iron Ore Exports
Australia exported 77.9 Mt of iron ore (wet basis) in August, up from 76.9 Mt last August and 73.4 Mt in July, official customs data show.
Exports to China reached a three-month high of 65.6 Mt, up from 61.1 Mt a year earlier.
Indonesian Minor Bulk Exports
Indonesia exported 1.8 Mt of bauxite in June, a 12-month high, data from Bank Indonesia showed.
This brings bauxite exports in the 1h21 to 7.3 Mt, down from 10.8 Mt a year earlier.
