Brazilian iron ore exports to China rebounded to 23.4 Mt in June, up from just 16.4 Mt in May and a year-to-date high, official customs data show. At 33.7 Mt, Brazilian iron ore exports to all destinations in June were a nine-month high.

There was also a jump in shipments to European/Mediterranean destinations which doubled year-on-year to 3.6 Mt, the highest level since May 2019.

Other significant destinations for June iron ore exports included Malaysia (1.6 Mt), where Vale operates a distribution centre, and Oman (1.3 Mt), where the company has a pellet plant.
