The 12.3 Mt fall in Chinese iron ore imports in June to 89.4 Mt was driven primarily by a drop in shipments from Australia (-8.4 Mt to 57.8 Mt) and Brazil (-2.3 Mt to 14.7 Mt), the latest customs data show.

Despite the monthly decline, exports in the 1h21 were still 11.8 Mt above the year-ago level as strong shipments from Brazil (+13.5 Mt to 108.3 Mt) and India (+5.8 Mt to 25.8 Mt) were more than enough to offset a 4.7 Mt decline in imports from Australia over the same period.
