Indonesia remained the largest supplier of steam coal (including anthracite and lignite) to China in June, with imports from Indonesia reaching 17.0 Mt, up by 6.2 Mt year-on-year as volumes from Australia remained absent, data from IHS showed.

Total imports from Indonesia in the 1h21 reached 85.0 Mt, broadly in line with the same period last year.

After Indonesia, Russia was the next largest supplier of seaborne thermal coal to China in June with volumes hitting 4.2 Mt, up from 2.3 Mt a year earlier, bringing total 1h21 imports from Russia to 20.6 Mt versus 14.0 Mt a year earlier.
