Japan imported 8.0 Mt of steam coal (including anthracite) in June, a 13-month low and down from 8.4 Mt in the same month last year, official customs data showed.

Australia remained the largest supplier with volumes coming in at 5.3 Mt, unchanged year-on-year, with imports from Indonesia falling to a five-month low of 0.7 Mt, down from 1.3 Mt a year earlier.

Elsewhere, US shipments reached a three-month high of 0.3 Mt with imports from Russia hitting a five-month high of 1.6 Mt.
