Colombian May steam coal exports hit 3.3 Mt, a six-month low and down from 4.0 Mt in May last year, data from IHS showed.

There were declines in shipments to major European and Mediterranean destinations, with exports to Turkey plunging to the lowest monthly level in more than five years at 0.5 Mt. Meanwhile, after a strong start to the year, shipments to China dropped to just 0.2 Mt in May.

Total exports in the January to May period now stand at 22.1 Mt, down from 28.3 Mt a year earlier.
