Japanese Iron Ore and Coal Imports

Japanese iron ore imports reached 9.0 Mt in May, with coal imports reaching 13.7 Mt, according to preliminary trade data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance.

For iron ore this represents a 31.5% year-on-year increase while for coal, volumes were up 10.4% on the year.

Iron and steel product exports meanwhile hit 2.8 Mt in May, up 10.9% year-on-year.
