South African seaborne iron ore exports reached 4.9 Mt in April, up 0.8 Mt year-on-year but down from March’s 5.6 Mt, official customs data showed.

China remained the largest recipient, with 3.0 Mt registered, down slightly from a year earlier.

Total exports to all destinations in the January-April period now stand at 19.8 Mt versus 20.7 Mt last year.
