South Korean steel imports reached a two-year high of 1.6 Mt in April, up from 1.5 Mt a year earlier according to data from the Korea Iron and Steel Association.

This brings total imports in the January-April period to 4.8 Mt, down from 5.1 Mt in the same period last year owing to lower imports in January and March.

Steel exports meanwhile reached 2.3 Mt in April, up 0.3 Mt year-on-year, to bring total January-April exports to 9.3 Mt, down from 9.6 Mt a year earlier.
