Thailand’s crude oil imports reach five-month high in May

Thailand’s crude oil imports jumped by 100K b/d m-o-m and 527K b/d y-o-y to 934K b/d in May, rising for the second month in a row to the highest level since December 2020, according to data from Thailand’s customs department. Arrivals from the Middle East surged by 158K b/d m-o-m and 339K b/d y-o-y to a five-month high of 503K b/d, recovering after previously falling to an eleven-month low in April. Imports from West Africa also increased by 70K b/d m-o-m to 118K b/d, whereas shipments from Asia and the Mediterranean declined by 116K b/d m-o-m to 121K b/d and by 59K b/d m-o-m to 88K b/d respectively.
