New South Wales Floods Disrupt Australian Coal Deliveries

Heavy rains and flooding have forced the halt of coal railings on the Hunter Valley network that serves the Port of Newcastle, newswires report. Weather-related disruption was also reported at some mining operations in the region. Rail operations serving the coal port were suspended on 22 March and are unlikely to resume until water levels recede, according to the rail operator. Heavy rain is also slowing ship movements at the port where loading using stockpiles continues.
Exports from NCIG’s terminal at Newcastle had already been halted to allow for unscheduled repair work to a shiploader.
