At 3.7 Mt, seaborne exports of South African coal fell by 3.2 Mt year-on-year in January, the lowest level since May 2011, according to the latest customs data.

Exports of South African iron ore retreated by 1.8 Mt annually to 4.8 Mt, a three-month low.

Meanwhile, manganese ore exports climbed 0.3 Mt to 1.9 Mt in January. By contrast, outbound shipments of chromium ore declined by 0.3 Mt to 1.0 Mt, a six-month low.
