Australia March Coal Exports
Coal
Australia’s March coal exports dropped to a 25-month low of 27.5 Mt, comprising 14.0 Mt of coking coal and 13.5 Mt of steam coal, government data show.
This was almost entirely due to a steep 4.6 Mt year-on-year drop in steam coal shipments which retreated to an eight-year low of 13.5 Mt. By comparison, coking coal shipments were down only slightly at 14.0 Mt.
At 87.4 Mt, Australia’s 1q21 coal exports were down from 94.8 Mt a year earlier with most of the fall attributed to a drop in steam coal exports.
