India’s crude steel output fell to a ten-month low of 8.0 Mt in April, down 2.0 Mt month-on-month, as a rise in Covid-19 infections in the country saw fresh disruption to the sector, according to IHS citing initial estimates from the country’s Ministry of Steel.

However, production was still up sharply from 3.3 Mt in the same month last year, when steel production and consumption was significantly curtailed by a nationwide lockdown.
