Volumes of coal leaving key Queensland ports of Abbot Point, Dalrymple Bay, Gladstone and Hay Point in April hit 16.8 Mt, a four-month high and up 0.4 Mt year-on-year, port authority data showed.

However, at 64.5 Mt, January-April throughput was still down by 3.5 Mt on the same period last year.
