South Korean coal imports reached 9.4 Mt in April, down 1.2 Mt year-on-year amid a fall in both coking and steam coal volumes, data from IHS showed.

Steam coal imports (including anthracite) totalled 7.4 Mt, down from 8.5 Mt in the same month last year with coking coal imports coming in at 2.0 Mt against 2.1 Mt a year earlier.

For the January-April period, total coal imports were 38.2 Mt, down from 39.7 Mt in the same period last year.
