US, Europe HRB Prices Rise

Hot rolled band (HRB) steel prices in the US and Western Europe continued to reach new record highs in contrast to falling values in China, the latest SteelBenchmarker from Steel Dynamics showed.

At $1,680/t, US HRB prices rose $53/t in the two weeks to 26 May, with Western European prices rising a steeper $66/t in the same period to reach $1,344/t.

In China, prices fell $52/t to hit $753/t, but still strong by historical standards
