Australian wheat exports in August reached the strongest level for the month since 2012, at just under 2.2 Mt, up sharply from 0.4 Mt a year ago, according to the International Grains Council.

Almost all cargoes went to Asian destinations with the total to this region standing at just under 2.0 Mt. Key destinations included Vietnam (0.4 Mt), Indonesia (0.3 Mt) and the Philippines (0.3 Mt).

A year earlier, volumes to the whole of Asia failed to exceed 0.4 Mt amid a poor harvest.
